The Need Project
As a long established Baptist Church in Stotfold, of approx. 100 members, we are always looking for ways to support our community. One of the ways in which we feel that we can do this is to help those in need within our local area. The purpose is to meet any need that we can and respond quickly.
Our aim
We through God’s grace and provision commit ourselves to be Christ to all who receive from us, all who listen to us and all who see us, so the love of Jesus is received and not just heard. Through Jesus we can do all things.
Where we are
We have been provided with free office space/storage space by Preen Building in Biggleswade, for which we are very grateful.
What we do
We are at present working with Bedfordshire Social Services, health visitors, doctors, Preen Building in Biggleswade and Hertfordshire Police within our local area. To date we have supplied 100's of food parcels via our partners, to needy situations. We are very sure that all the cases were genuine, as the majority of them have come through our doctors’ surgery and local authorities. In addition we have also been in a position to supply large amounts of children’s clothing aged from birth to 12 years of age. We have also supplied cots and other baby equipment on occasion, if we have these items available. All these items are donated or funded by our congregation.
We have links with eleven other churches in the local area, including Letchworth and Hitchin in Hertfordshire and Sandy, Biggleswade, Shefford, Maulden and Ampthill in Bedfordshire, who help provide food, clothing etc. and volunteers to help deliver the food parcels.
We would like to emphasise that the purpose of our ministry is to help the community in a practical way and our faith is our motivation not our purpose. We do not discriminate between who and who we do not respond to. Our view is that a lot of people have heard of the love of Jesus, but not many people have experienced it and as a church we feel that meeting people’s needs in a practical manner achieves this.
